Bashed by the Bluejays

By Ellen Lupkes

In the first week of wrestling in the new year, the Roadrunners had rough results. On Thursday, January 5, Interstate travelled to Winterset to face the Clarke Indians and the Bondurant Bluejays. After eight open matches and four second-period pins in favor of the Roadrunners, they were looking optimistic heading into the Bondurant match. This optimism was soon crushed by eleven losses. The only bright spot was brought by the heavier weights. Ethan Jones, 170, Tommy Bregar, 182, and Todd Graham, 195, were the only wrestlers to achieve victory against the Bluejays.

Two days later, again at Winterset, a lack of wrestlers ushered in results much the same as Thursday. Of the nine wrestlers present, only juniors Tyler Lester and Ethan Jones received medals, third and fourth respectively.
