The Interstate 35 High School Girls varsity team had a tough set of games but ended their drought against Pleasantville, Tuesday, January 31st.
The Lady Roadrunners lost a squeaker against Murray. They were down by 1 point with a few seconds remaining when Senior Olivia Sulentic put up a jump shot at the buzzer which rolled around the rim but didn’t fall.
Next, the Roadrunners ran into a Corning Red Raider squad who are currently fourth in the conference. It was an up and down game which the Roadrunner stayed with the Red Raiders but in the end lost 39 to 43. During the game, Senior Olivia Sulentic became the first Interstate hoopster in the 5 on 5 era to score over 1000 points in her career.
On a rare Saturday night game, the ladies ventured to Leon for Coaches against Cancer game. The Roadrunners could not match the 12 three point shots that Central Decatur launched through the nets. After the tough road losses, the ladies returned to the comfort of Roadrunner Country to face Pleasantville. The team dominated in the second half to secure a 13-point victory.
